Snickarn – sharpening system for chisels, plane irons and gouges
Exakt slipvinkel utan gissningar
Snickarn is a complete sharpening system for chisels, plane irons and gouges.
The system is based on flat diamond stones measuring 75 × 150 mm and a rotating angle guide that makes it possible to sharpen both flat edges and gouges at a controlled angle.
The stones cover the entire sharpening process from coarse grinding to polishing and are complemented with a leather strop, polishing compound and rubber mat for stable use.
The system is delivered in a laser-cut storage box made from 4 mm poplar.
Use
Place the sharpener on the rubber mat and set the desired angle using the angle guide.
Start with 100 or 300 grit to shape the edge.
When the edge is even and flat, continue with 600 and then 1200 grit to refine the sharpening.
Finish with the leather strop and polishing compound to remove the burr and achieve a very fine edge.
The angle guide can be rotated sideways, making it possible to follow the radius of gouges during sharpening.
The system also works very well for knives and axes when a stable and flat sharpening surface is required.

Frequently asked questions
What can be sanded with Snickarn?
The system is developed for chisels, planing steels and chisels but also works excellently for knives and axes.
Can you sand down sinks?
Yes. The angle support can be rotated sideways so that the edge follows the bowl shape during sharpening.
What is the difference between grinding, honing and steeling?
Sharpening involves shaping the edge with coarser grinds. Honing is done with finer grinds to refine the sharpness. Steeling does not normally remove material but straightens the edge.
Do diamond sharpeners need to be used with water?
No. The sharpeners can be used dry or with a little water. After use, they can be rinsed clean and dried.
How long do diamond sharpeners last?
Diamond sharpening stones wear very slowly and retain their flat grinding surface for a long time with normal use.
